Stan Cieplinski

Stan started coaching in 1971 as a player coach on the men’s team at the Evergreen soccer club. He developed and coached the Oley men’s soccer club and finished his men’s club career with the Reading Amerk’s. He then started college coaching as the head coach at Albright College. He stayed there for two years before moving to Longwood College in Virginia as the head coach and an instructor in the physical education department.
Stan remained at Longwood for six years. During that time, he led the Lancers to three state championship appearances, and three top 20 national rankings. He was named an all-star coach three years out of the six by the Virginia Intercollegiate Soccer Association. He was named the southeast region “Coach of the Year” by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. He has taught at many camps, including positions as site director of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association.
Stan was introduced to soccer and mentored by Francis Nellis, the prolific scorer of the Scottish First Division. He credits Nellis for training him in ball striking technique. At age 16 he was recruited to play with the Reading Amerk’s men’s team. Stan capped his high school career by being the Berks League scoring champion in 1966. Stan then went on to Slippery Rock where he was a three-year varsity starter at the forward position.
Stan is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and holds an Advanced National Certification.
