What is the Super Y-league?
The Super Y-League is a professional soccer systemthat is the first step for developing youth soccer players in North America. Affiliated with US Soccer and partnered with US Club Soccer, the league is designed for talented youth players destined for collegiate, professional or international careers. The league contains the youth academies of USL First Division, USL Second Division, Premier Development League, W-League, and Major League Soccer clubs, as well as many of the established premier youth clubs. Through Olympic Development Program status events such as the North American Finals and National ODP Camps, the nation's top players are identified for selection to US National Team Programs. Reading Rage Super Y teams benefit from the same commitment to excellence that characterizes our professional team, it is an essential step to a youth player’s “Path to the Pros.”

Which Clubs compete in the Super Y-League?
Over 100 clubs throughout North America compete annually for a National Championship. Last year, the Reading Rage competed in the Mid-Atlantic Region against such top-flight clubs as DC United, Red Bull New York, and the Washington Freedom.

When is the Super Y-League season?
The season consists of approximately 10-16 games. The season primarily May through August, with the National Finals being held every November in Florida. The U20 teams' season runs from June through July with Finals in August at a site TBD.

What are the age brackets for the Super Y-League?
There will be teams from U13 through U20 for boys and U13 through U20 girls. The Super Y-League uses the same age brackets defined by birth date as the USYSA (August 1 to July 31). You will use these dates to determine which age group tryout you may attend.

How do I tryout for a team?
If you are interested in playing for a Reading Rage Super Y team, contact Brendan Burke at bburke@bsarage.com.

How many players will be selected for each Super Y-League team?
Depending on the quality of each tryout group, 22-26 players will be selected. The players will then compete for the 18 player match roster that will be selected for each game day.

What is the Super Y-League ODP system?
The Super Y-League ODP system exists to identify players for U.S. National Team Programs, within their natural environment during competition on their club team during the Super Y-League season. During the regular season over a series of matches, players are evaluated for tactical, physical and psychological characteristics that will determine their ability to attend the ODP National Camp held in January and February following each season. Through the national scouting system, the clubs contain select individuals that serve as the scouts for the league. These individuals are comprised of coaches and technical directors of the clubs. The benefits of this system are:

  • Players are selected within the natural environment on their club teams within league play, as opposed to an open try-out system. Many players do not participate in the open-tryout ODP system operated by state associations. Some players do not react or perform well in an open tryout process.
  • Exposure to U.S. National Staff and Team Coaches.
  • Exposure to professional and collegiate scouts.
  • There is no cost to be scouted. The scouting system is built into league play and contains no ODP fees, other than those selected to the ODP National Camps in January and February.
